How to Remember

This Kanji has a story.

口 of 可 means a box for posting congratulations and wish.

And shape of the parts without 口 means a branch for hitting the box.

Long ago people pray to God hitting the box with the branch.

And God gives permission.

This kanji means possible from the story.

In Use

We don't have a lot of situations to use 可 alone normally.

But the pronunciation is (ka) in the case.

When you use 可 with other Kanji, the pronunciation is (ka).

可能 (doryoku) "possible" 可決 (kaketsu) "approved" 許可 (kyoka) "permission" 認可 (ninka) "authorization"

When we always use 可 with other Kanji, Nobody uses 可 with Hiragana.
